Abilities and Experience in the Working World

Throughout his career, Kaliel has been in charge of a number of high-profile and legally significant cases. These cases have garnered significant media attention. He has served as the lead class counsel in significant state and national class action lawsuits, won several contest class certification motions, defended dispositive motions, and utilized several data-intensive, high-tech, and scientific methods and processes in discovery and other aspects of the cases. His area of competence encompasses collaborations with professionals in fields such as economics, information technology, and engineering to provide illustrative and detailed models that demonstrate the extent of the damages in individual circumstances. During high-stakes litigation, the ability to exhibit information in a dynamic presentation is essential, and Kaliel has the capacity to link and express these points.

Fighting against predatory financial organizations and services and the real-world effects they leave behind for a large number of consumers is something that Jeff Kaliel considers to be a personal passion of his. His present caseload consists of several lawsuits filed against financial services companies and other associated entities engaging in the most aggressive lending practice. In addition to this, he fights against financial services that are meant to take advantage of the vulnerable consumers in America who have the least amount of money available to them. This community of low-income individuals has restricted access to services that are both low-cost and of high quality.

Fighting consumer issues in this space requires developing financial expertise on par with that of many others in the field while maintaining the ability to convey this information in an approachable, easily digestible way for individuals who are hearing a case. This is in addition to mastering the legal arguments necessary to convey a case's technical merits.

The litigation surrounding consumer safety and protection is extremely similar. The laws that protect consumers from a wide range of problems are difficult to understand, varied, and, at times, their number can be overwhelming. Finding the legal arguments that are the most appropriate for a particular case requires intense concentration and investigation as you make your way through the points of interest and content. You must pay close attention to the nuances and details of the situation. If an issue is taken from the perspective of a single customer to that of a group of customers in a class-action lawsuit, the level of complexity increases significantly, as does the amount at stake.

When businesses are forced to compensate consumers who have been injured financially and make adjustments based on the lessons learned from a successful civil process, Kaliel believes the level of difficulty is well worth the return.

Participation in Philanthropy and Other Charitable Activities

During his career as an attorney, Kaliel has collaborated with various non-profit organizations to fight for the truth and devise the financial sting operations that frequently contribute to the initiation of significant policy shifts. Among the many human societies, Compassion over Killing and the National Consumers League are the beneficiaries of some of his most proud efforts with charitable organizations. Through the judicial system, these organizations campaigned for the right to label foods and animal products with accurate information.

Awards

Due to his many accomplishments, Kaliel was selected to be one of the Rising Stars Super Lawyers in Washington, D.C., in 2015. The newspaper Super Lawyers uses a variety of factors to pick honorees, which is one of the reasons why the award is so prestigious.
